‘Morning Joe’ hosts meltdown after host says Trump ‘co-opted America’s heartbeat’ with Jan. 6 pardons

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough had a meltdown Tuesday after their guest, Donny Deutsch, claimed that President Trump “co-opted the heartbeat of America” ​​by pardoning the Jan. 6 offenders.

Much to the ire of Democrats, hours after taking office on Monday, Trump addressed an issue at the top of his to-do list and pardoned roughly 1,500 congressional rebels and commuted 14 prison sentences.

“Too Early” host Ali Vitali noted that Trump was able to exonerate the January 6 rioters with the “stroke of the pen,” before saying that everyone in “Washington and beyond” would have to accept that ” that’s how it is now.”

As Scarborough jumped to point out that the election was close, at “1.5 percent,” and the Republican majorities in both houses of Congress are slim, Deutsch interjected.

“I just want to add one thing to this, we can say this about ourselves, but he [Trump] has picked the heartbeat of America,” Deutsch said.

Brzezinski tried to intervene, telling Deutsch, “If the heartbeat of America is to have hostage families standing behind it, that marketing visual is something real.”

Deutsch quickly replied, “I’m not saying you might not like this,” before addressing her protests and saying, “Hear me, hear me, hear me.”

“I’m talking about J6,” Brzezinski replied sharply, referring to January 6, 2021.

“People will absorb it because it gives them what they want in other countries,” Deutsch replied. “It’s just … I want the Rams to learn that you can get away with something as ridiculous as that if you’re feeding people what they want to hear and what they need.”

“Yes,” Brzezinski said.

Scarborough then jumped in, reminding Brzezinski that Trump “told them [Americans] what would he do.”

“He did,” she replied.

“And he’s providing the bread and the circuses, as they used to say in Roman times,” Scarborough continued. “It entertains them. But underneath that, there are things he’s doing breaking one norm after another.”

Deutsch tried to interject, saying, “Nobody’s saying ignore it, I’m saying the opposite, actually.”

Scarborough continued, noting that Trump promised to “break every norm.”
